The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Trey SNOW (Wilmington, North Carolina, USA), Nicolas PADE (Nivaa, Denmark), Alice CLARKE (London, England), Gillian Taylor (Sutton, Surrey, England) and Kate BARLEY (Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England).

On Friday the 10th of December 2004, we were invited to join the Shark Diving Unlimited team on board Barracuda... Great day with the Sharks! We observed eight different White Sharks today. Nick, Gillian, Alice and Kate were also invited to jump into the Shark cage, and although the underwater visibility was poor, they had a great time...
On Saturday the 11th of December 2004, we welcomed Tom Peschak (Currents of Contrast) on board Lamnidae... Great day with the Sharks! We observed eleven different White Sharks today. A pod of 15-20 Bottlenose Dolphins swam past Lamnidae during the morning...
Saturday evening, Tracey, Trey, Alice, Gillian and Kate went to Frank se gat to party... Michael and Tom decided late that moonless evening to go on a night drive inland of Gansbaai. Nick was sleeping at the time, so we woke him up to join us... Great drive! We saw several local antilopes, an African wild cat and a couple of owls (plus the usual sheep, dogs and cows)...
On Sunday the 12th of December, we launched Lamnidae and sailed to Haibaai and Erlkraalsmond beach to view the White Sharks swimming along the beach. Tom Peschak had never spent much time along the shore, and we spent the day spotting the Sharks in that area. Sea conditions were ideal with less swell than in the past few days...
From Monday the 13th of December, the nights in Gansbaai were illuminated by some wonderful and festive Christmas lights... A grandiose centerpiece in the form of a colourful local trawler, and the main road was illuminated by a series of usual Christmas lights as well as some more unusual lights in the shape of Sharks, Dolphins, Whales, Crayfish, etc...
