The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

TJ BARANEK from Pewaukee (Wisconsin, USA), Alan DUNCAN (Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland), Chris MILNES (Grantham, Lincolnshire, England) and Rhiannon COLLINGBORN (Chippenham, Wilts, England)

Thursday the 25th of September 2003, we spent the afternoon at sea... nice day, but with a bit more wind than the previous days... the cloud was overcast and the glare on the water was quite bad. We only observed three different White Sharks today... We welcomed Clare Wilcox on board Lamnidae. This is also TJ's last day with us... Three months with us and the sharks! Very sad time...
On Friday the 26th of September 2003 we went to sea early... the sea was glass flat with barely any wind... hot day... fantastic day! But unfortunately the sharks did not want to play with us... we observed seven sharks, but most just swam past under the boat never to be seen again... I guess we cannot be always as lucky as the first three days of this week.
And here we go again... some pictures Alan took on the 26th of September... since the sharks did not really stay around our boat, he took pictures of the boat itself, including the water fight at the end of the day... Researchers hard at work!
And below are some of Chris Milnes' photographs of the sharks and of Andy Casagrande whom we welcomed on the 27th of September... Andy wrote and sings a cool "Great White Shark" song!
