The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Andy CASAGRANDE (Santa Cruz, California, USA), Darren John HUNNIFORD (Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales) and James KIRBY (London, England).

Tuesday the 16th of December 2003... Finally, the sea settled down... Beautiful and hot day! We left the little harbour of Kleinbaai at seven in the morning to make the most of this day...

We observed three White Sharks today among which one with a SPOT Satellite Tag attached to its dorsal fin... It was just great to see some Sharks again after this long storm...

In the afternoon, before returning to shore, we decided to go fish for some Crayfish at Danger Point... We caught five Crayfish and one little Shark in our two nets... but we released two of the Crayfish as they were too small. Frank Rutzen caught some Geelbek (Cape Salmon) yesterday, and we will have a nice Ocean Basket supper tomorrow night!
Wednesday the 17th of December... The Return of the King is finally out there!!! Another storm hit our coastline, but hopefully it won't last... in the evening, Morne and Ivan joined us for a braai... Crayfish for starterss, beer bread and Geelbek (Cape Salmon) for mains... I can see some people getting all jealous reading these lines...
