The White Shark Trust is on a field work holiday from the 16th through the 31st of August 2003.
On Friday the 15th of August, myself, Lenny, Tommaso and TJ drove to Cape Town. Lenny was flying back to the Big Apple that same evening, while Tommaso was flying back to Italia the next morning at 5 am. TJ had to change his plane tickets and extend his visa since he decided to stay longer in SA.

The White Shark Trust is a field work break during the last two weeks of August.

On Sunday the 17th of August, myself, Tracey and TJ went to the beach by Franskraal with Billy and Max to enjoy this wonderful day.

TJ of course could not resist the wave temptation and went body surfing...

On Sunday the 17th of August, the strongest and coldest winter storm hit South Africa. Gale force winds over 110 km/h, waves in excess of 8 meters, rain and more rain, cold temperature close to freezing, snow on the mountains, etc... the ocean was just one rocky stormy pool of kelp foam...

The winter storm lasted for three days... By Thursday the 21st of August, the weather settled down and welcomed us with a blue sky.

The mountains behind Hermanus, on the opposite side of Walker Bay, were covered with snow... this is highly unusual for this region... the scenery reminded me of Scotland... and Switzerland!

And a few more images of these mountains behind Hermanus covered in snow taken that same evening... Some of you might wonder why this is so amazing? Well most locals I spoke to have never seen snow from so close... and of course, being from Switzerland myself, I probably suffer from withdrawal symptoms too...
