The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:
Michael UNWIN from Watford (United Kingdom), Jessica da Silva from Toronto (Canada), Andrew BLAKE from Newport (Wales, UK). Maryalice WALKER from Portland (USA) joined the team from the 3rd to the 20th of April 2003.
Friday the 4th of April 2003 was a windy day, but we decided to got out as the easterly winds are offshore in Holbaai, and thus we could anchor in a relative calm spot protected by the shore.

We observed five different White Shark today! Very good day, with Michael and Andrew handling the bait line alternatively with being our shark spotters on the tower. Jessica and Maryalice were writting down the information about the sharks and local conditions...

This is the first time in four years that we spot sharks in this inshore area where we usually only work during the spring and early summer months... strange!

Saturday the 5th of April 2003 was another wonderful day... We observed four sharks today in perfect conditions! Great day!

We welcomed on board Lamnidae, Ryan Nelson (Member of the Board of Trustees of the White Shark Trust) and his girlfriend, Mandy.

Sunday the 6th of April 2003, Michael, Andrew, Jessica and Maryalice went out with the team of Shark Diving Unlimited, and observed five sharks...

On Monday the 7th of April, the weather and sea conditions were perfect... we had to wait for quite a few hours, but our third shark was worth the wait!
