Jenna CAINS (Scotland) has been with us since the 1st of February 2002. Karl-Niklas HULT from Sweden joined the team from the 15th of May. Niklas will stay with us through mid-July.
Starting on the afternoon of the 22nd of May, a storm hit our coastline... we were stuck on shore for three days of miserable weather... The fourth day though, the weather changed to the better, but the sea was still too rough...

We went on an excursion to the Cape Peninsula...

Leaving Gansbaai for the day, we took the slow but scenic coast road to Cape Town...

Jenna felt quite at home in this, sometimes, Scotlandish looking secenery.

We then followed the east coast of the Cape Peninsula to Simon's Town and Boulder's Beach...

Boulder's Beach has been home to a colony of Jackass Penguins or African Penguins since the 80s.

The colony counts about 3000 penguins today... but the penguin population has declined to near extinction in the past century, and recovery is very slow...

A little further south, and we reach the Cape of Good Hope National Park...

Lots of Baboons!

Niklas' aim when he arrived was to see Sharks, Penguins and Baboons... well...

And what a wonderful day it was... Great weather, lots of penguins, lots of baboons, Niklas trying to get (too) close to baboons, etc...

And the next day should be a fantastic day at sea...
