Karl-Niklaud HULT from Sweden has been with us since the 16th of May 2002.
On the 1st of July 2002, the White Shark Trust welcomed three new Field Research Assistants: Christiane BROUWER (Alberta, Canada), Jamie GALDUN (Herndon, VA, USA) and Rima JABADO (Montreal, Quebec).

On the 15th of July, Karl-Niklaud HULT left for Sweden... We then welcomed on the same day Fiona WORTHY from the UK...

On the 13th of July, the calm day before the storm hits Dyer Island and Gansbaai... Only one shark was observed today, but we were lucky to have a few Southern Right Whales swimming past our boat when we were anchored at Holbaai, an area situated closer to shore...

In the evening on the 13th, we were all invited for Ryan Johnson's house warming party as he moved to Gansbaai recently... an occasion to mingle with the locals... an experience equivalent to visiting the African wildlife :-)
On the 15th of July, we drove Niklas to Cape Town, and went to fetch Fiona WORTHY who will be staying with us till the end of August.

After a visit to the Waterfront (and our now traditional lunch at St-Elmos), we very sadly went to the airport where Niklas left us behind to go back to his Viking land of Sweeden...

On the 17th of July, we managed to go out to sea again after another small storm...

The sea was rough (Fiona will remember) and we only observed one shark... one crazy shark though...

On the 18th of July, a Southern Right Whale mother and her newly born calf swam past our boat. Dyer Island and the coastline are in the background...

Shark Diving Unlimited generously lent us their cage and diving gear... Christiane, Fiona, Jamie and Rima (in the order they entered the cage) all took the tip and saw the Sharks underwater...
