Hyun KOUNNE from Cambridge (USA) and Polly CROUCH from Aberdeen (Scotland) have been with the programme since the beginning of October. Chris FLORESCU (Alwick, UK) took part of the programme as a guest since the 20th of October. On the 1st of November, we welcomed Shelagh MacMILLAN from the UK.
The evening of the 14th of December... a celebration of the past few months in the company of Hyun, Polly and Shellagh... A great time with nostalgic moments, it being the last evening spent together...
The 15th of December, Shellagh took a flight to Zimbabwe early in the morning... I spent the day with Polly and Hyun around Cape Town enjoying this last day (or delaying the good by's)... Wonderful and warm day!
On Thursday the 19th, a huge bush fire was burning down in the Fynbos area between De Kelders and the mountain... this fire then spread during the night along the mountain towards Gansbaai... and on Friday the 20th, the fire was raging just behind Gansbaai... the really strong wind was pushing the fire towards the village...

But later that day, the fire died down, probably losing power when reaching the "no man's land" section protecting the town from such fires. These fires happen every year during the summer, and they are actually part of the Fynbos ecosystem. The heat of fire is needed by a lot of seeds buried in the ground to start their lives in a now empty space...

And of course, the holidays bring all kind of weirdos into town... even those who go onto an open roof party bus tour through the town when the fire is raging...

Gansbaai is a huge holiday attraction during the summer holidays.
