7 Sharks & a Great Time!

Good to be back at Dyer Island!

On Tuesday the 27th of August, the research vessel "Sardinops" arrived at Dyer Island from Mossel Bay to deploy three bottom monitors which will identify and record the presence of sharks with ultrasonic tags.

We also observed one of the sharks with a PAT tag which was tagged at Dyer Island about two weeks ago!

On Wednesday the 28th of August, Jamie, Carla, Fiona and Laura went on a boat-based Whale Watching trip with Wilfred Chivell / Whale Song.

We also welcomed back Ramon BONFIL (Wildlife Conservation Society) who just came back from Mossel Bay yesterday...

Michael and Ramon went out alone while the "girls" were watching whales... They would be joined by Jamie, Fiona, Carla and Laura a few hours later...

Ramon was interviewed about the Satellite tagging program by Ralf KIEFNER who is doing a documentary production on White Sharks with Shark Diving Unlimited...

The shark with the PAT (Pop-Up Archival Tag) was again sighted today... we observed seven White Sharks... and we waited for a large shark to visit us in order to deploy the last satellite tag that Ramon Bonfil (Wildlife Conservation Society) in collaboration with Marine and Coastal Management planned to deploy this month...
